Don’t dry your iPhone in a bag of rice, says Apple
Apple has issued a statement advising against placing iPhones in a bag of rice to dry them out. Despite popular belief, rice is not a recommended method for drying out water-damaged iPhones.
According to Apple, putting your iPhone in a bag of rice can actually do more harm than good. The rice grains can get stuck in the ports and openings of the iPhone, causing further damage and making it more difficult to repair.
Instead, Apple recommends using a lint-free cloth to gently dry the exterior of the iPhone and then allowing it to air dry for at least 24 hours. If your iPhone has been exposed to water, it is best to take it to an authorized Apple service provider for proper cleaning and repair.
So next time your iPhone takes an unexpected swim, remember to skip the rice and opt for a more reliable drying method recommended by Apple.
